Perishable products face unique challenges during route delivery. Cargo loading, frequent door openings
and variations in ambient truck temperature can all potentially reduce product shelf life. There is clearly
a need for a system that monitors the environmental conditions inside the refrigerated and freezer
compartments throughout the delivery route while also tracking the vehicle’s location. The FlashLink BLE
Route Delivery System has been purpose-built to address these route delivery monitoring needs.
The new BLE Route Delivery System uses Bluetooth technology and features FlashLink BLE Beacons that
are placed inside the refrigerated, freezer and ambient storage compartments to wirelessly transmit
temperature and humidity data to a BLE Mobile Gateway that is installed in the vehicle and connected
to the vehicle battery or if desired, to the refer battery. The BLE Gateway then utilizes cellular and GPS
technology location data to monitor in-transit temperature and location with position accuracy within
two meters. All data is then automatically transmitted to the cloud service for easy access.
The route delivery system benefits customers in that it also addresses temperature fluctuations that can
occur during product loading and unloading. Because significant time can elapse between the time the
first and last products are delivered to the final destinations, this delivery time difference can create
product quality disparities throughout the truck.
As delivery routes often involve multiple drop-offs from distribution centers to multiple stores, each
door opening potentially causes temperature changes in the vehicle that affect the quality of all
remaining cargo. The FlashTrak BLE Route Delivery System monitors the products from the time a truck
is loaded until it reaches each delivery point.
The BLE System is beneficial when used in multi-temperature zone trailers and trucks. Beacons may be
placed in each of the compartments and measure temperature in each of these different zones.
The system enables monitoring of trailer cool down before loading with automated tracking of
compartment temperatures. This benefit enables shipping to know when the set point is reached before
loading the products. Cost savings result through eliminating personnel that otherwise would be
necessary to manually check temperatures. Time is also saved as only trucks that are ready to load can
back into the dock.
To better monitor your perishable shipment, the BLE Route Delivery System just might meet your needs.
