Fred Wu, DeltaTrak CEO, Honored with Food Logistics' Lifetime Achievement Award
The supply chain industry is often defined by the visionaries and innovators who shape its landscape. Among these trailblazers stands Fred Wu, the founder and CEO of DeltaTrak, who has recently been honored with the 2024 Rock Stars of the Supply Chain award in the Lifetime Achievement category by Food Logistics magazine.
A Pioneer in Cold Chain Technology
Fred founded DeltaTrak, Inc. in 1989, embarking on a journey that would redefine the cold chain and food safety landscape. Throughout his career, Fred has been a pioneer in developing real-time cold chain solutions that have revolutionized the industry. His relentless pursuit of innovation is reflected in the numerous patents he holds, with notable contributions including the development of DeltaTrak's first product, a single-use, in-transit temperature recorder.
Fred’s visionary approach extends beyond hardware to patented firmware known as 'Shadow Logging.' This innovation ensures that trip data is always available, even if the operator forgets to activate the logger. He has also introduced a groundbreaking Chain of Custody ecosystem named UBQ Network, seamlessly integrating product quality and transactional data on a single platform. This integration provides real-time, end-to-end visibility and traceability of each transaction, setting new standards for the industry.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing excerpts of a discussion with Fred about his career and the evolution of DeltaTrak. We’re calling it Inside the Cold Chain – stay tuned for more.
